Great Lakes Commission

November 11, 2016

This week was the bi-annual meeting of the Michigan Invasive Plant Collaborative, held in Okemos, Michigan. Attendees included representatives from academic institutions, Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas (CISMAs), the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the horticultural industry, a consulting firm, and several non-profit organizations.

We attended the meeting to speak about the work of the Great Lakes Phragmites Collaborative and provide an update on the Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework. Other discussion topics included Michigan’s Terrestrial Invasive Species Management Plan, CISMA updates, improvements to the Midwest Invasive Species Information Network (MISIN), and an explanation of how to use aerial drones in field work.
